Walk for Peggy and Casper 2014 - The Route!

(Garmin Map at the bottom of the page)

Still haven't registered for the walk? There's still time! Click here to register today.

On the morning of the walk, we will have buses leaving IKEA to bring people over to the start point in Mount Jerome, so if you wish to park your cars at the finish that morning, the option is there. If you wish to park locally at the start, there will also be buses available to bring you back from the finish point in IKEA to the starting area near Mount Jerome.

In addition to this, the walk marshalled with Civil Defence support. We will have marshalls at all main junctions and the route will be clearly signposted on the day.
Below is a brief summary of the route, however, we will mail everyone that has registered in advance of the walk with final details;

Registration will take place at the Scout Hall between Mount Jerome and Mount Argus:

From there, we head down Harold’s Cross Road and over Harold’s Cross bridge, where you will see Ken Lawford motors on the right hand side. This brings us up onto Clanbrassil street Upper.

We continue on all the way, passing New Street South and join onto Nicholas Street, where we take the left turn at the junction and onto Thomas Street.

We will cross at the lights here and follow the road as it swings around to the right and onto Bridge Street Upper.

Once across the bridge, we go straight on up church street and onto Constitution Hill. This continues up to where the road becomes Phibsborough Road. We continue on this road across the junctions through Phibsborough.

The road continues on and we cross the canal where the Porterhouse pub is on your right hand side and the road splits onto the Finglas Road (N2). As you travel on this road, you will see Glasnevin cemetery on your right hand side.

Glasnevin Cemetary is approximately the Half Way Point!
From here, we stay on the Finglas Road straight for approximately 3km and then take the slip road up to the crossover into Finglas Village.

Once over the bridge, take the first immediate right turn where Xtravision is and that will lead you up the Old North Road and to a railing where you come to LIDL.

We will cross the road here and follow up St. Margarets Road all the way past the crossroad where Charlestown Shopping Centre is.

After this crossroads, you will follow the road until you come to a roundabout and will go right. You are now on the homeward stretch.

At this point you are less than 2km from the finish. As you continue down along this road, you will see IKEA on the left hand side! We will of course be there to Welcome you!
